As you will probably know by now, my ultimate kpop band is BTS, and if I'm honest I've found it very hard to get into another group. That was until I stumbled across SEVENTEEN, otherwise known as SVT.
Basic Introduction

The band is made up of 13 members, which probably seems weird as their name is SEVENTEEN. This is because there were originally 17 members in the group, but 4 dropped out before they debuted. They all perform together, but are split into 3 units: Performance, Vocal and Hip Hop. As well as performing together they also have unit based songs. Alongside this there is also the sub unit group of BooSeokSoon, which is made up of 3 members. I will go more into detail on them later. SVT was made under Pledis Entertainment and the group debuted on 26th March 2015 with their pre-release track 'Shining Diamond' and title track 'Adore U' from their mini album '17-Carat'. They are known as a as a self-producing idol group as they are involved in composition and production of their own discography and choreography, which is very unheard of in the Kpop industry.
Hip-Hop Unit

The Hip-Hop Unit is made up of 4 members, each very skilled in rapping. Their unit songs include tracks such as 'Trauma' and 'Check In', which both have music videos. Now, onto the individual members, their roles and personalities:

S. Coups: Also known as Choi Seungcheol, is the leader of SVT and the Hip-Hop Unit. As well as this he is a Main Rapper and Sub-Vocalist. He has a deep melodic voice, which is very distinguishable. Although he is the leader of SVT he has a very childish personality and acts as if he's the Maknae more often than not. He takes his leader role very seriously and acts like the Dad of the group. He often feels as if he's not doing a good job and finds it hard to lead 12 other members, but honestly he does an amazing job and all the members encourage him. He also came up with his stage name himself, stating that the S stood for 'Seungcheol' and 'Seventeen', with the 'Coups' meaning big success.

Wonwoo: Also known as Jeon Wonwoo, is a Lead Rapper and Sub-Vocalist in SVT. He has an incredibly deep voice which is intoxicating to listen too. There's an ongoing joke that he is very 'emo' as he isn't very expressive but in reality he is one of the softest members, who can also be very loud. He also loves reading books and always recommends books to fans.

Mingyu: Also known as Kim Mingyu, is a Lead Rapper, Sub-Vocalist and Visual in SVT. His voice is extremely versatile, he is as good as singing as he is rapping, get you a man who can do both. He is crazily handsome and always steals the screen time when they perform on stage. He has a very sweet and naive soul, and acts like a puppy the majority of the time. He is a domestic god, and cooks for SVT on the regular.

Vernon: Also known as Choi Hansol, is a Main Rapper, Dancer and Sub-Vocalist in SVT. He has some of the most iconic parts in many of SVT's songs, and similarly to Mingyu, steals the screen time when they perform on stage. Vernon is also, half american as he was born in New York and moved to Korea when he was 5. He is also one of the members who is memed the most, and he fully embraces it by constantly making people laugh.
Vocal Unit

The Vocal Unit is made up of 5 members, each very skilled vocalist. Their unit songs include tracks such as 'Pinwheel' and 'Chocolate', which both have featuring music videos. Now, onto the individual members, their roles and personalities:

Jeonghan: Also known as Yoon Jeonghan, is a Lead Vocalist in SVT. He has a very unique nasally voice, which is very distinctive. He is one of the most beautiful men to ever exist, but used to get mis-gendered a lot when he had his ethereal long hair, may it rest in peace. Being the second oldest in SVT Jeonghan acts as a mother figure, especially over Dino who claims that he is his baby. As adorable as he is, he can be extremely savage as well. He has a duality like none other.

Joshua: Also known as Hong Jisoo, is a Lead Vocalist in SVT. He is the god of falsetto, having the most beautiful high voice. Just like Vernon, Joshua is originally from America as he was born in LA. He is a stunningly handsome man and such a gentleman. Although don't be phased, he is as crazy as the rest of them, being the king of pin dropping. He serves some sass when doing acrostic poems and god bless he wants to be in the hip-hop unit so bad.

Woozi: Also known as Lee Jihoon, is a Lead Vocalist, Dancer, Producer and the Leader of the Vocal Unit in SVT. He has a god given voice, his high notes in 'Change Up' is something indescribable. He writes, composes and produces all of SVT's songs and works extremely hard. He seems very serious but is an actual softie in reality. He's a very small being, but hates his height being talked about too much. He's also very good at doing aegyo but hates himself for it.

DK: Also known as Dokyeom and Lee Seokmin, is a Main Vocalist in SVT, and wow does he deserve that title. He has the purest voice i have ever heard and harmonises with the rest of the group incredibly well. He is also SVT's 'happy virus' and 'mood maker', forever making the rest of the members laugh. He is extremely versatile and has been used as an honorary member in both the Performance and Hip Hop Units. He has the most incredible bone structure ever, his visuals are seriously underrated.

Seungkwan: Also known as Boo Seungkwan, is a Lead Vocalist and Official MC in SVT. His confident and hilarious personality has made him the perfect spokesperson and MC for SVT as he always comes across incredible well on TV and reality shows. He is incredinbly sassy and has so many iconic moments in Going Seventeen and behind the scenes videos. He has the voice of an angel and sometimes gets mistaken for the Main Vocalist because his vocals are so strong.
Performance Unit

The Performance Unit is made up of 4 members, each very skilled dancers, who can also sing and rap. Their unit songs include tracks such as 'Highlight' and 'Lilili Yabbay', which both have featuring music videos. Now, onto the individual members, their roles and personalities:

Jun: Also known as Wen Junhui, is a Lead Dancer and Sub-Vocalist in SVT. He is one out of the two most underrated and most slept on members in SVT. His dancing skills are amazing and he has the most angelic high pitched voice. But when he uses his lower vocals, it is deadly! He was born in China and travelled to Korea to become an idol, he can speak Canontese, Mandarin and Hangul. He is the king of confidence and basically invented loving yourself.

Hoshi: Also known as Kown Soonyoung, is a Main Dancer, Vocalist and the leader of the Performance Unit in SVT. This boy is so multi-talented, there is nothing he can't do. He can rap extraordinary well and choreographs all of SVT's dances. He has the nickname of 10:10 because his eyes copy the shape of the clock striking 10:10. He is one of the most extra members in SVT and is part of the meme team, who always makes the other members laugh.

The8: Also known as Xu Minghao, is a Lead Dancer, B-boy and Sub-Vocalist in SVT. He is the other most underrated member in SVT, alongside Jun. Minghao is my bias in SVT so be prepared for his section to be the longest. He is also from China and travelled over to Korea to pursue his dream of performing. He had to learn Korean once he moved and sometimes still struggled with the language, but all the members are very supportive and always help him out.

He's been learning Wushu since he was 5 years old and he is seriously talented with nunchucks. He is the b-boy king, and is SVT's little acrobat that does flips and crazy dance moved within the choreography. He is soft as hell, but don't be fooled, he is also incredibly savage when he wants to be. He is incredibly versatile, he can rap and sing, but he gets next to no lines which makes me incredibly sad! Give this boy more lines and screen time before I sue!

Dino: Also known as Lee Chan, is a Main Dancer, Rapper, Sub-Vocalist and the Maknae in SVT. Dino is the performance team powerhouse, being the most versatile member involved. His rap in Boom Boom destroys the entire song, it is that powerful. Do not mention Michael Jackson in his presence, he will perform and entire routine for you right there and then, he is the biggest fanboy. He has had the most amazing transformation out of all the members, comparing baby Dino from Adore U to Dino in Thanks is literally two completely different people.
BooSeokSoon

BooSeokSoon is a sub-unit within SVT that features Seungkwan, DK and Hoshi. They released their first song this year called 'Just Do It' and it is such a bop. All of the other members have been extremely supportive. DK is the leader of the sub-unit and does an amazing job on it. There's an entire Going Seventeen Spin Off episode dedicated to their debut and it's amazing to watch. There's also two MVs because Pledis did one as well as 1theK.

So that’s SEVENTEEN in a nutshell. This was slightly longer than I first intended but I could literally talk about them forever, honestly. I am thinking of doing my top 5 favourite music videos, like I did for BTS sometime soon as well. I know this won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but this is something I’m passionate about and love talking about so I hope you guys enjoy it.

Tune in next week for another ramble about something I like.
